Rising Australian jiu-jitsu stars Jeremy Skinner and Daniel Schuardt have earned their black belts.
The Absolute MMA students were promoted by ADCC absolute division bronze medalist Lachlan Giles just a few days ago, marking the academy’s first grading in fifteen months.
Skinner, a multiple-time GrappleFest veteran with a 2-0 record at Polaris, has been working hard within Australia and abroad to become yet another one of Absolute’s top athletes. He boasts a win over Frank Rosenthal from 2019 and took home gold at Pan Pacs that same year.
“Onward and upward.
Thank you to everyone that has supported me through the past 10 years.”
Schuardt is also one of Australia’s better-known home-grown jiu-jitsu athletes. He claimed bronze at No-Gi Worlds as a brown belt in 2019, taking home silver at Japan’s ADCC Trials that same year. In addition to a 3-1 MMA record, he’s also twice claimed the +77kg title at the Australian Grappling Championships.
“
Today is a day I will hold onto dearly for the rest of my life. I had the honour to be awarded my BLACK BELT from a man I consider an inspiration, a fantastic coach and most of all a friend. @lachlan_giles has helped me with countless hours of hard training, technical advice and laughs! There have been so many people that I’ve met who’ve had an influence on me in my jiu jitsu journey and so if we have shared the mat together, competed together or even if you just do jiu jitsu. I thank you for the role you’ve played in my development! While this is my highest achievement to date my journey is still only just beginning and I can’t wait to see what I am able to accomplish with the team I have beside me.“
We look forward to seeing what the future holds for these two black belts from Down Under.
