Mario Lopez, the popular actor who is known for his A.C. Slater role in the “Saved by the Bell” TV show, recently competed at a local IBJJF tournament… And got disqualified from it.
Why? Well, from the looks of it, it seems that the referee decided to disqualify Lopez for “fleeing” the mat while in a submission. However, it appears that the famous actor wasn’t in any sort of trouble.
He was attempting to pressure the bottom player and establish the Knee On Belly position, whereas his opponent was trying to maintain his distance for the choke. And that led to both of them leaving the mat area.
Take a look at it for yourself on the video below. What do you think?
Mario Lopez has been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for over 4 years. He is a very skilled blue belt who loves training:
Jiu-Jitsu is like physical chess. You’re constantly learning and expanding your mind. I just love it! I love the community and everything that it’s about and that I get to do it with my kids.
It instills such a great work ethic and confidence and physical toughness, as well as emotional, psychological toughness, and a lot of confidence.
So I love all those things and all those attributes that it teaches. It will compliment my day.
