Hemp gets softer and more comfortable with use. A simple care routine helps preserve the fit, fabric and construction of your gi.
WASH COLD
Machine wash in cold water to help minimize additional shrinkage.
LINE DRY
Hang dry in the shade. Avoid high heat when you want to preserve the original fit.
KEEP IT SIMPLE
Use a mild detergent. Avoid bleach and fabric softener.
WASH AFTER TRAINING
Wash your gi promptly after training rather than leaving it damp in your gear bag.
Hempo is pre-shrunk at the factory, but the fabric may still shrink up to 5% during the first few washes. If you're between sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size.

IS HEMPO REALLY MADE FROM 100% HEMP?
Yes. The main jacket and pants fabrics are made from 100% hemp. COOLMAX® fabric is strategically used as lining in high-contact areas including the shoulders, waist and gusset for added comfort and moisture management.
HOW HEAVY IS THE HEMPO GI?
The Hempo jacket uses a 550 GSM hemp fabric and the pants use a 375 GSM hemp fabric. The result is a substantial, durable gi designed for regular training while retaining the natural feel and breathability of hemp.
DOES HEMPO SHRINK?
Hempo is pre-shrunk, but some additional shrinkage is normal. The fabric may shrink up to approximately 5% during the first few washes.
If you are between sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size.

DOES HEMP GET SOFTER OVER TIME?
Yes. One of the distinctive characteristics of hemp is that it softens with washing and use. Hempo is designed to become increasingly comfortable as you train in it.
HOW IS HEMP DIFFERENT FROM A COTTON GI?
Hemp is a naturally strong fiber with a distinctive feel and excellent durability. It is breathable, softens with repeated use and helps resist odor buildup.
Cotton remains a great traditional gi material. Hempo is simply a different approach for practitioners looking for the unique characteristics of hemp.
WHAT DOES THE COOLMAX® LINING DO?
COOLMAX® is placed in areas where moisture and friction tend to be most noticeable during training. Hempo uses it around the shoulders, waist and gusset to improve comfort in those high-contact areas.
