Weird Hip Movement makes this BJJ Side Control Escape Effective – Chewjitsu

This video shows one of my favorite Side Control Escapes in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

I showed this technique at a recent Team Training Meetup in Nashville for our annual Team Shawn Hammonds Association training.

I showed this particular BJJ Side Control Escape because I used it on several people during our rolling the night previously.

Here’s how the escape works.

I like using the Underhook Escape. It’s by far my favorite escape and works really well with my Brazilian Jiu-jitsu game.

But sometimes when a person is tight, it’s hard to get my hand under their arm.

By doing the roll I show in this video. It’s an effective way to get the person to post and get their arms off of you.

While they are temporarily posted on the mat to save their balance.

I pop right out the back and execute the underhook escape.

I don’t show exactly where to go in this video. And leave it sort of open ended.

But if you’re having trouble getting out of side control. Then I hope this technique helps!

I promise, this is no BS, this is really one of my favorite Side Control escapes in BJJ and has gotten me out of plenty of tight spots!
