Simple Guillotine Choke Tips for 10 Year Old BJJ Competitor

Recently a mother of a 10 year old BJJ competitor sent in a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu video request about the Guillotine Choke.

Her son who competed in a Pro Style Brazilian Jiujitsu competition, similar to a Fight To Win promotion, lost his match.

During the match she says he had a Guillotine Choke sunk in wand it looked like it was close to getting the finish. But for some reason her son was unable to finish the submission during the competition match.

In this video, I go over some simple Guillotine Choke tips as well as cover some options that could work off of the choke.

During the video you’ll see me focus primarily on the way we position our arms and the way we adjust our body.

For me personally, the angle of my body in relation to my opponent’s has been one of the biggest factors in finishing the Guillotine choke.

I used to believe that the Guillotine Choke was a low percentage move in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. But as I’ve trained with other practitioners who were very good with it and began to use it for myself. I’ve come to the conclusion that the choke is incredibly effective and can be used for several transitions.

If you’re having trouble using this choke in your BJJ game. I hope the video is useful for you.

Thanks again to Cassie for the question!
