Should Beginners Focus on Gi or No GI BJJ (Is the GI Unrealistic)

Should beginners in Brazilian Jiujitsu focus on Gi or No Gi BJJ?

This is the BJJ question I was asked recently from Wayne.

Again, as always in my Chewy ramble videos. This is always my opinion and belief and is merely 1 way to go about things.

In my opinion and the way that I practice Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. I think that beginners in BJJ should do both. Because ultimately, anyone who is starting their Brazilian Jiujitsu need more mat time.

Mat time will cure many of the issues that beginners have with remembering techniques or being able to execute different movements.

Also, I think that Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in the gi and no gi both have lessons to teach. And I think that people who are starting BJJ need to learn those lessons and later on if they decide to specialize, they can.

And lastly, I honestly don’t see the point in limiting yourself to one type of jiu-jitsu. I think it’s important to keep an open mind and do what you like.

Thanks for watching the video!
