Hitting a training plateau in BJJ isn’t fun for a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. For me, training plateaus always seem to follow after some growth in my game. Then all of sudden someone hits the brakes and I’m no longer moving forward and progressing.
This problem seemed to plague me from Blue – Brown belt especially. I’m not sure if this was because I had a lot of self imposed pressure to perform, or because I was always so reluctant to try new things. maybe both?
Whatever it was, whenever I would hit these road blocks I always became frustrated with my BJJ training. It went from being fun and exciting to becoming a grind.
In this video I share a couple of easy to takeaway tips for your Brazilian Jiujitsu training and on breaking training plateaus in BJJ.
In this video the focus is on adding variation to your training. Simply put, do something different. Find a weak area of your BJJ and go do that. Force yourself to grow in new areas.
The second tip is on readopting the mindset you had on your 1st day of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. That “I’m just happy to be here” mindset. At times we get caught up with frustrating elements of training that we forget how amazing this whole thing is. And if you can relax a little it will allow you to enjoy being on the mats more and being in a more relaxed state to accomplish the task you want.
So if you’re experience a plateau in BJJ and looking for a way around it. I hope the video is helpful to you.
As always, thanks for watching!
