I USE THIS TAKEDOWN ONCE I ESTABLISH MY GRIPS AND FEEL LIKE MY OPPONENT IS NOT GOING TO PULL GUARD. I PUSH AND PULL MY GRIPS SO I CAN START TIMING THE TAKEDOWN
I START THE MOVE BY LIFTING MY LEG AS IF I AM GOING TO STEP ON MY OPPONENT’S HIP TO PULL GUARD. I STAY BALANCED ON ONE LEG, MAKING MY OPPONENT HOLD MY WEIGHT. THIS CAUSES MY OPPONENT TO LOWER THEIR LEVEL AS THEY PREPARE TO BRACE FOR MY GUARD PULL. WHEN I FEEL THEIR REACTION OF SHIFTING THE WEIGHT TO THEIR HIPS, I ATTACK THE TAKEDOWN.
I BRING MY STEPPING LEG BACK AND REACH FOR MY OPPONENT’S ANKLE WITH THE HAND THAT WAS GRABBING THEIR OUTSIDE SLEEVE. I TRY TO SCOOP THEIR ANKLE OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THEM
I FINISH THE TAKEDOWN AND KEEP AT LEAST ONE KNEE UP TO ENSURE THAT I DO NOT GO INTO THEIR CLOSED GUARD AND CAN START PASSING RIGHT AWAY
