Getting back after injuries in BJJ is tough. And for some, the thought of returning to BJJ competitions is even more difficult.
This is the situation our friend finds himself in BJJ following back to back injuries.
Our friend Stu was out of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu training for nearly 2 years with a series of injuries. A meniscus tear and a double hernia.
He’s been back for about 5 months and is struggling with the idea of competition because he lost a lot of the abilities he had before he was out
His question is whether or not he should compete in a BJJ tournament because as a Blue Belt he is getting beat by a lot of his training partners at the same level and even some that are a little lower.
In the video I share the idea of using BJJ tournaments and BJJ competitions as well as other BJJ goals to push you forward.
I know that from me. BJJ competitions are an excellent way to propel me forward. They push me to improve because there is a sort of deadline or goal associated with it.
Likewise, after coming back from injuries. Having an upcoming BJJ competition can be just the thing to get me going again.
