In this video, former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub talks about his friend and podcast colleague Joe Rogan’s fighting skills. In Schaub’s opinion, Rogan would beat UFC newcomer Mickey Gall.
Schaub and Alan Jouban explained their points of view on the “Big Brown Break Down”:
“He has gorilla strength, is a Jiu-Jitsu black belt and has a strong striking background with Taekwondo.”
“His spinning back kick is out of this world. If he hits with that you’re out”
“There is no way he’d make 170 though…”
Rogan (49) is a Taekwondo black belt. At nineteen, he won a US Open grand championship tournament, meaning that as a lightweight, he also defeated competitors of the middle and heavyweight classes. In addition, he was a full-contact champion for four consecutive years in Massachusetts and became an instructor in the sport.
In 1996, Rogan began training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Carlson Gracie at his school in Hollywood, California. He is a black belt under Eddie Bravo’s 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu, and a black belt in gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Jean Jacques Machado.
Mickey Gall (24) is 4-0 in MMA, 2-0 in UFC and a BJJ brown belt under David Adiv.
