Watch The Best Kimura Finishes In UFC History

The Kimura is one of the most common submission finishes in competitive BJJ and UFC statistics are not that much different. There’s even an entire system of techniques that branch off the Kimura, known collectively as the Kimura Trap System, that many BJJ competitors and even some UFC fighters have managed to use to great efficacy. That’s why a collection of the best Kimura finishes in UFC history is something pretty hard to narrow down, because there’s simply so many slick finishes to pick from!

The very first finish in the above video is probably the one that sprung to everyone’s mind the moment they knew what the video was about, Frank Mir breaking Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira’s arm all the way back at UFC 140. Frank Mir has always been known as a submission specialist so it’s no surprise that he features on a number of similar collections of UFC submission finishes. Next up is the fight that earned Khabib Nurmagomedov his opportunity to become the UFC Lightweight Champion and the start of when the casual fanbase started to realize just how good he was, his brutal submission victory over Michael Johnson.

One of the most technically impressive finishes in the collection comes courtesy of the most underrated grappler in the UFC, Luke Rockhold, back at UFC 172 when he earned himself Sherdog MMA’s Submission of the year for locking up a tight inverted triangle on Tim Boetsch, only to finish him with a Kimura on his free arm instead. The video features a number of other elite submission artists like Nick Diaz and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, who’s Kimura finish was coincidentally also over Tim Boetsch.
