You know what they say: sometimes you just have to let go. And that isn’t true only in relationships – but in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well. Especially when you go for a submission technique that doesn’t really seem to work, one that your opponent is soundly defending… And really especially when they go for a slam.
Well, that wasn’t what this mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter did on a recent AUFC 40 event in Cairo (Egypt). He held his opponent, Ahmed Abdelaziz, in Closed Guard and then transitioned into what seemed like a tight Armbar attempt. However, Abdelaziz then stood up – and started slamming his opponent. Repeatedly.
Needless to say, the fighter on the receiving end of the slams didn’t let go of the Armbar, thinking that he’s got it. But then, Abdelaziz slammed him in such a way that he hit the canvas chin-first.
The fighter went out, though reports say that he was “okay” afterwards. Watch it take place below:

The entire AUFC 40 was full of situations like this, actually. One of the fighters, for example, got KO’d by a soccer kick:
And then following that slam, this other dude just got soccer kick KO’d at AUFC. This event is turning into a snuff film. pic.twitter.com/Yqya32WvDS
