Themba Gorimbo is a UFC welterweight fighter with an inspirational story.
After his second UFC fight, Gorimbo said that he was left with only 7 dollars to his name. And that he had to sleep on the couch in his gym.
The story touched many, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Which is why The Rock decided to surprise Gorimbo by visiting him and telling him how much he has inspired him:
I got to tell you, man. Your story moved me.
When I found out that you had 7 bucks in your bank account, I know what that’s like… I was here in Miami when I had 7 bucks [in my own pocket].But then, also, you know – you win your second fight and then you sell your fight kit, you buy a water well for your village in Zimbabwe, so your people can have clean water.
You could have taken that money and put it down on a car, on an apartment…But you didn’t, you took care of your people. And that says who you are.
Then, the Rock took it a step further. And gifted Gorimbo a new home!
It was an emotional moment both for Gorimbo and The Rock:
So, this place is yours. You don’t have to think about anything.
The only thing you have to think about is your family, getting them with you, training, and becoming champion.
Themba Gorimbo was more than grateful and shared his further plans for helping his village:
I will tell you now what I’m going to do. I was supposed to get a house…
And the money that I was supposed to use for the house, I’m going [to use] to build another borehole in my village now, when I land in Africa.I’m going to build it because we need another one.

Lights are on.
Bills are paid.
Keep your “My Reason” list close, keep taking care of your people and I’m honored to play a very, very small role in your $7 bucks journey.
$7 bucks.
