Ryan Garcia is an American professional boxer; a WBC interim lightweight champion back in 2021… And who will, in 2023, fight in a long-awaited match against Gervonta Davis – another rising lightweight!
However, Garcia doesn’t seem to be content with boxing anymore either. The 24-year old has now also started training BJJ, seemingly under Rener Gracie!
Rener shared the news on his social media:

Surely, getting the black belt (as teased by Rener) would take Ryan Garcia a long time nevertheless – most people get promoted in 10 to 15 years’ time.
And even if he is to receive his belt sooner, that’d mean more dedication; which, given that Garcia is in the process of creating a legacy in boxing, might be too big of a bite to chew on at the moment.

Garcia has been training boxing since he was 7 years old, with his father in the family garage. He turned professional at age 17 and it was immediately obvious that he’d be a true boxing sensation – as out of his first 6 pro MMA fights, he won 5 of them via knockout.
Therefore, it will be interesting to watch his progress in Jiu-Jitsu. Regardless of the belt color he reaches, given his work ethic… Garcia could reach great heights.
