After defeating Craig Jones in overtime at Submission Underground 17, Mason Fowler is returning to SUG to face another formidable opponent in the main event of SUG 18.
Fowler will be taking on 2011 ADCC champ Vinny Magalhaes in SUG’s Absolute Championship, capping off a night of ten action-packed matches. Fowler is a brown belt with a number of impressive accolades to his name already, including gold at Worlds in both gi and no-gi. The current SUG champion is also an ADCC veteran and is quickly making his name as an elite competitor before having even earned his black belt.
Magalhaes, who also competed at ADCC last year, most recently competed at SUG 13, ultimately being defeated by Craig Jones. Now, he’ll be getting another shot at victory for the promotion when he faces off against Fowler in a match that will test his experience against Fowler’s youth and innovation. With an ADCC championship and No-Gi Worlds title under his belt, he’ll be a worthy challenger against Fowler.
The card features a number of other big names as well, with 2019 no-gi world champion Kendall Reusing taking on fellow black belt Leah Taylor in the co-main event. William Tackett, Keith Krikorian, and Kody Steele will also be on the card, as well as Jiu-Jitsu Times writer Emil Fischer.
Submission Underground 18 will take place on Sunday, October 4 and can be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass.
