Eddie Bravo’s rubber guard is a strong position for those who have mastered it. But Marcelo Garcia has a way to avoid its danger and pass it.

The position aims to break the posture of an opponent and attack from there–a good way for MMA fighters to control an opponent and still be able to punch.

Marcelo’s technique makes sure to negate the possibility of getting caught in a triangle by positioning the arm to prevent the free leg of the opponent from closing. By standing up and placing your limbs in the right angle, you can shake off the rubber guard to escape.
