“Revolution Martial Arts Academy”, a UK-based Jiu-Jitsu gym (in Dewsbury, Yorkshire), has pulled off an amazing feat… It put together a 24-hour Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class in order to break the Guinness World Record for the longest BJJ class ever.
Head coach Steven Scaddan organized the event on October 8. The feat featured over 20 martial artists from all over the area and from all over the country.
These athletes trained in a 24-hour (almost) non-stop session, with the purpose of raising money for BBC Children in Need; a charity that helps kids in the UK to receive any help they need to flourish and thrive.
In the end, the athletes trained for a total of 24 hours and 24 minutes, with just 5-minute breaks every hour. They managed to raise just shy of their £2,000 goal.
One of the participants shared how it was:
It was pretty grueling to be honest, and after 17 hours or so of training, things start to feel a bit surreal.
But I loved doing it for such a good cause and getting my face a bit more known in Jiu Jitsu community – although I won’t be doing it again anytime soon!”
The gym’s head coach has set up a fundraiser to help the team reach its goal for Children in Need.
