The UFC has officially announced for the first time that Dustin Poirier will fight Conor McGregor at UFC 264 on July 10.

The announcement would’ve practically been redundant just a few days ago — the trilogy matchup, which will serve as the headliner for the event, has been widely reported for some time now, and though the UFC hadn’t made news of the bout official, it seemed to be a done deal.
But then came the Twitter beef.
To recap: prior to their rematch, McGregor told Poirier that he’d donate $500,000 to Poirier’s charity, The Good Fight Foundation. As it turned out, though, the donation hasn’t been sent in the nearly three months since Poirier vs. McGregor 2. Poirier called McGregor out on Twitter, saying that McGregor’s team had stopped responding to emails from the Foundation after the rematch. McGregor responded by saying he wanted to know exactly where all the money was going before he sent it. Poirier reiterated that McGregor’s team hadn’t responded to multiple emails regarding the matter. McGregor fired back with some colorful insults and then said that “the fight is off.”
McGregor then tried to build interest for a fight against a new opponent with a play on words about Poirier’s organization.
Looking to start the foundations of a good fight you guys, who’s in?

Anyway. The UFC itself seems to have set the record straight by officially announcing the fight, quashing any notions that McGregor will be fighting anyone but Poirier come July 10. McGregor himself retweeted the announcement, so it seems that everyone is on the same page again.
UFC 264 is already a sold-out event, according to Dana White. It will take place in Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.
