UFC Hall-Of-Famer Diego Sanchez To Compete In Combat Jiu-Jitsu Worlds In August

Another UFC star has decided to make an appearance on the mats for the competitive jiu-jitsu scene.

Eddie Bravo has announced that welterweight UFC fighter Diego Sanchez will be taking his place in August’s upcoming Combat Jiu-Jitsu Worlds tournament, which will feature a welterweight bracket.

This isn’t the only good news to come for Sanchez this week, either. A couple days ago, the UFC announced that his 2009 fight with Clay Guida (which Sanchez won by split decision) in the Ultimate Fighter 9 finale would be added to the UFC Hall of Fame on July 5.

Sanchez isn’t the first big-name UFC fighter to be scheduled to compete in CJJ — Fabricio Werdum was originally slated for February’s CJJ event this year opposite Gordon Ryan, but after Ryan was injured and unable to compete, the match was removed, and Werdum was replaced. With an addition like Sanchez, August 18’s card is already likely to generate plenty of hype from BJJ fans and MMA fans alike.
