Taking down, getting the back and finishing was a pretty common occurrence in Rodolfo Vieira’s competitive BJJ career. Away from the mats, now he continues to use this method in MMA, and with similar success.
In his most recent fight, at ACA 96, which was held last Saturday, Rodolfo faced his biggest challenge so far — Russia’s Vitaliy Nemchinov, whose record showed ten wins and just one loss.
With only four bouts’ worth of experience, Rodolfo went into the ring as the underdog. But after displaying confidence on his feet and launching some kicks, he applied a clean double-leg takedown and dominated Nemchinov on the ground. On top, the Brazilian only needed to press with punches to find the space to take the back, going right for the rear naked choke. Lights out in round 1.
