The former champion of Brazil’s Jungle Fight promotion, Jiu-Jitsu black belt Marcelo Guimarães made his debut in MMA’s most renowned cage this Wednesday. The undefeated native of Espirito Santo state notched his eighth career win upon outpointing Daniel Stittgen via split decision at UFC on Fuel 4.

In the main event of the evening, purple belt Chris Weidman of Matt Serra team went to town with takedowns and ran roughshod over his opponent on the ground before landing a second-round and finishing up the beat-down on Mark Muñoz with a barrage of strikes on the ground. Now, Weidman figures at the top of the list of challengers to middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva’s throne, alongside Hector Lombard.
