UFC Fighter Matt Hughes Ordered To Stay 500 Feet Away From His Wife After Alleged Physical Abuse

UFC Hall-of-Famer Matt Hughes has been served a restraining order after allegedly attacking his wife and threatening to shoot her, according to documents reportedly obtained by TMZ.

The fighter last made headlines when he was nearly killed after his truck was hit by a train in June 2017, leaving him with a serious brain injury. His wife Audra alleges that in “September or October” of the same year of the accident, her husband choked her while she was in the shower and asked for the code to his gun vault after she refused to give him his truck keys. She claims he wasn’t supposed to drive at the time due to his brain injury. When she refused to give him the code, he allegedly choked her again and slammed her head against the shower wall.

Audra also claims that in June 2018, she took Matt’s phone after believing he was “communicating with multiple women.” She says that his response was, “I’m going to f*cking shoot you.” Then, in December 2018, she claims that he hit her in front of her son and stepfather and the couple’s daughter after she accused him of texting other women.

TMZ claims that the following day, Audra filed for and was granted a restraining order that requires Matt to stay at least 500 feet away from her at all times.

This is reportedly not the only restraining order that Matt Hughes currently has against him. TMZ reports that in late September 2018, Matt and his twin brother Mark (who is a retired MMA fighter and had one fight in the UFC) had a disagreement about who owned a tractor that Mark and his fifteen-year-old stepson had been using. When Matt saw his brother’s stepson driving the tractor, he allegedly shook the teen and told him that it was his “f*cking tractor.” Days later, Mark says he believes it was Matt who allegedly covered the tractor in gasoline in what Mark believes was an attempt to burn or otherwise destroy it.

Mark reportedly filed for and was granted a restraining order against his brother the next day.
