The battle between two of the best Jiu-Jitsu black belts in the UFC ended on the ground, but not the way one would expect. With perfect placement, Rafael dos Anjos sniped George Sotiropoulos’s chin with a strike and ended the bout in just 59 seconds.
It was the first knockout win of the Roberto Gordo black belt’s career, and he thanked boxing coach Cesário Bezerra for making it possible. The Brazilian lightweight has now amassed 15 wins on his MMA ledger.
Keeping the same pace, Melvin Guillard stepped into the octagon and dispatched Shane Roller in the first round. Melvin, another from Greg Jackson’s stable, hasn’t lost since 2009.
