UFC Contender Anthony Smith: ‘Rolling with Nicky Rod Was One Of The Worst Experiences I’ve Ever Been Through’

There are levels to this game, especially when it comes to Jiu-Jitsu.

UFC light heavyweight contender & BJJ black belt Anthony Smith was recently a guest on the Luke Thomas podcast. Smith is a legit BJJ black belt who has competed extensively both Gi and No Gi and all belt levels.

He talked about the latest ADCC which was held in Las Vegas.

“Did you watch the ADCC?

Luke Thomas: Oh yeah. It’s like the Steroid Olympics.”

“Guys there are freaks.”

Smith:

“During my last training camp, I trained with Nicky Rod and it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever been through. I almost wanted to leave my black belt there. I felt like I didn’t deserve this. Like I’m a good BJJ black belt. I’ve competed at black belt and he f#cking startched me. If we had rolled for 90 minutes non stop, there wasn’t 35 seconds where I was in neutral position. He barbecued me.
