UFC Boston: Cruz recovers bantamweight title after split decision win over TJ Dillashaw

UFC 132: Pre-Fight Press Conference

The champion is back.

The man who has never lost his title in the octagon, did it again.

Dominick Cruz has regained his UFC bantamweight belt after five rounds against TJ Dillashaw, this Sunday night, in Boston.

Away from the Octagon since UFC 178, on Sept. 2014, Cruz showed once again his elusive style of fighting and won the opinion of two out three judges.

Cruz also made great use of his wrestling and was able to take TJ down several times during the fight.

After the fight, Cruz said: “No one is going to retire me. I’ve been through a lot to be here. All my opponents built me into what I am now.”

TJ was in disbelief after the fight: “I am very disappointed, man. I thought I was more active, more aggressive and I thought I landed the most significant shots.”

The final score was: 48-47 Cruz, 49-46 TJ, 49-46 Cruz.
