Fans will have to wait a bit longer to watch Rafael dos Anjos fight Conor McGregor for the lightweight belt.
The main event at UFC 196 (March 5) was scratched this Tuesday after the Brazilian champion informed the UFC of a broken left foot that will leave him without being able to put weight on it for at least three weeks.
According to sources within RDA’s camp, the injury took place last Friday and the champion was hoping to be recovered this Monday, which didn’t happen.
The UFC spent the entire day looking for a replacement and finally made the announcement around 8PM (PT).
Donald Cerrone, Anthony Pettis and Nate Diaz were the favorites for taking Dos Anjos place and Diaz booked the gig.
The fight will be a regular match up in the welterweight divisiondespite Nate being a lightweight just like RDA.
