The UFC 196 lightweight main event fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Conor McGregor will not take place. Rafael dos Anjos injured his foot, out of UFC 196 main event. Reportedly, the UFC wants the event to go on and are currently looking to book another fighter for McGregor to face. They will have to work quickly because the event is set to place on March 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Last summer, McGregor went through the same scenario when the then lightweight champ Jose Alos had to withdraw from the tile match. Luckily, the match took place because the UFC signed Chad Mendes to fight McGregor.
At this time, there have not been any announcements made about booking a fighter to face McGregor. The co-main event that is scheduled is the UFC women’s bantamweight title match between Holly Holm vs. Miesha Tate. Hopefully, the UFC will book someone to fight McGregor in time for the big event.
