The UFC is making the most out of the Florida government’s decision to make professional sports events “essential” in the middle of the COVID-19 outbreak.
UFC 249 now has a confirmed date and location, but it won’t be the only event to be held in May. In fact, Dana White plans to host three events that week: one on May 9, one on May 13, and one on May 16.
The May 9 event has been reported and expected since the state government’s decision, which also opened the door for the WWE to host an event. However, White only recently confirmed the rumors and went all-in, also announcing that the two other events would be held that week. White says that Florida governor Rick DeSantis has approved the shows, and they will all be regulated by the Florida Boxing Commission.
Most of the details on the May 13 and May 16 events either haven’t developed or haven’t been released to the public yet, but White has stated that they will all take place at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.
