UAEJJF Postpones Upcoming Events Indefinitely Due To Coronavirus Fears

The spreading of the coronavirus all over the world has many organizations concerned. ONE Championship recently changed one of their events to be a closed-door affair due to concerns about the virus’ spread in Singapore, and now, the UAEJJF is taking a big step to try to combat the virus’ contagion.

The organization announced in a social media post that future UAEJJF events would be postponed until further notice. This includes the Abu Dhabi World Pro, which was scheduled to take place in mid-April.

To support international efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19, the UAE Jiu Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) has decided to postpone all remaining sport events and activities until further notice to support effective preventative and precautionary efforts.

This decision aligns with the Federation’s commitment to embody the values of the sport of jiu-jitsu and provide an exceptional experience to all athletes, audience and partners. The Federation remains committed to growing the sport of jiu-jitsu and ensuring the health and safety of all athletes and stakeholders.

“In view of the unfolding situation, the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation will be postponing its activities for the current season until further notice, as a precautionary and preventative measure to reduce the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus.”

The Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP) confirmed to the Jiu-Jitsu Times that at this time, all Abu Dhabi Grand Slam, National Pro, Continental Pro, and International Pro events will proceed as scheduled. However, the ADGS London will take place behind closed doors, as announced yesterday. All athletes competing will be allowed to bring one person with them, be it a coach, teammate, or family member.

The Jiu-Jitsu Times will provide any updates to this matter as they become available.
