Triple-Amputee Mark Ormrod Finishes 24-Hour Jiu-Jitsu Rolling Challenge

On December 9-10, military veteran and triple-amputee Mark Ormrod completed a 24-hour jiu-jitsu rolling challenge to benefit Reorg — a charitable organization that uses Brazilian jiu-jitsu to improve the lives of veterans struggling with life-altering injuries and trauma. Ormrod is a trustee of the England-based organization.

According to Ormrod, 58 academies participated in the “Rollathon,” soliciting donations to Reorg as grapplers sparred for 24-hours straight. The organization has already raised over  £500,000 to support veterans struggling with mental and physical disabilities.

Ormrod is a trustee of Reorg alongside well-known actor and BJJ practitioner Tom Hardy.

Reorg tackles the problems that many military personnel face when they leave the service or active duty. Not only do many of these veterans suffer from physical injuries and disabilities, but also face emotional and psychological trauma.

According to the Reorg website, the organization helps veterans “overcome their challenges through learning a new, difficult and incredible rewarded martial art. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.”

Donations to Reorg can be made here.
