As a purple belt I would say that your first mistake is being on time for warmups. Just kidding! Warmups are very important especially the older you get. There is a reason MMA fighters come to the cage profusely sweating and sometimes already on their second wind. The reason is when your body is warm the chances of injury go way down! Your range of motion and endurance are also stimulated during warmups for optimum performance during practice.
