Tom DeBlass has officially signed a deal with a publisher, DartFrog Blue, in order to produce an autobiography that is set to be released for the fall of 2020. The timing of the release is set very deliberately, as it is due to line up with Tom DeBlass’ return to MMA after also signing a deal with Asian promotion, ONE FC. He will join his long-time friend, training partner and protege, Garry Tonon, who holds an impressive 5-0 record with five finishes and has recently amped up calls for a shot at Martin Nguyen’s Featherweight World Championship.
Tom DeBlass is well known throughout both the BJJ and MMA community, having won the ADCC North American Trials on three occasions and previously competed at the very highest levels of MMA, in the UFC. Despite being 38 years old and seven years removed from his final MMA fight, DeBlass has kept consistently busy during his time away from the sport by competing in both single-fight events like Kasai and Fight 2 Win, and tournaments like the IBJJF No Gi Worlds and the aforementioned ADCC Trials.
The Tom DeBlass autobiography, as yet unnamed, might give us an insight into his youth, his early beginnings in the sport of BJJ, or perhaps some stories about his years of training under the legendary Ricardo Almeida. He could even go a little further and share a little about what it was like training with and teaching to a much younger Gordon Ryan and Garry Tonon.
