The Von Flue choke is one of the most powerful counters to a guillotine choke.
However, there have surprisingly been only three Von Flue choke submissions in the UFC, and two of those are credited to light heavyweight Ovince Saint Preux (OSP), who jokingly referred to the choke as the Von Saint Preux.
OSP submitted Marcos Rogerio de Lima with the choke at UFC Fight Night 108. He also used it to defeat Nikita Krylov at UFC 171 back in 2014. The Von Flue choke earned Saint Preux one of his two Performance of the Night bonuses.
But what is this submission, named after former UFC fighter Jason Von Flue, and how does it work?
Check out this video by world-famous BJJ black belt and former MMA fighter Renzo Gracie for an explanation of how to use the Von Flue Choke to counter a guillotine.
