The Most Emotional Retirement In Jiu-Jitsu

The Legend Romulo Barral Retirement announced. The 33-year old and five-time champion of the BJJ retired at the 2016 Worlds. He faced Leandro Lo in the medium-heavy final, but lost the match. Barral handled defeat well and symbolically placed his belt around Leandro’s waist and told the arena that was retiring from the world championships. The audience gave Barral a standing ovation. The Brazilian got very emotional as he thanked them for their love and support. However, Romulo may not be leaving the sport of Jiu Jitsu entirely. He may still compete in other events like the Europeans and world masters.
