The List Of Americans That Will Represent USA At The Abu Dhabi World Pro

Each year in April, the top professional Jiu-jitsu athletes from around the world gather in Abu Dhabi for the World Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship.  Winners from the UAEJJF NY International Pro and USA National Pro will become part of the American team that will represent the United States in Abu Dhabi at the Abu Dhabi World Pro.  In previous years, U.S. athletes who have qualified for the Championship have not benefitted from the structure and organization that comes with a national team.  This year, for the first time ever, U.S. athletes will be representing their country as a unified national team at the World Championship.

Besides thousands of competitors from around the world, this year there will be four countries represented by the best competitors of each belt ranking – Brazil, the UAE, Japan and the United States.  Through the UAEJJF, the United Arab Emirates Jiu-jitsu Federation, competitors from these four countries will have the opportunity to represent their countries at a major international competition.

To support the USJJA, the United States Jiu-jitsu Association, Storm Kimonos through an exclusive agreement, will supply uniforms to all U.S. National Team members. Dean Thompson, owner of Storm Kimonos, believes in this project and has taken a personal interest in supporting the U.S. National Team.  Through this agreement, all National Team athletes will receive a competitor’s kit, which includes: Two exclusive U.S. National Team uniforms, a rash guard, training shorts, and other team merchandise, all courtesy of Storm Kimonos.  Thompson believes in supporting the U.S. team, and, through this agreement, wants to instill a sense of pride for the athletes representing the U.S. National Team at the World Championships.

Following the example set by the National Olympic teams, the USJJA will be sending an official delegation to support the athletes and represent their interests in the UAE, for the Abu Dhabi Pro. USJJA President, Rodrigo Clark, and Vice President Gustavo Mugiatti will be in Abu Dhabi to assure the athletes with all the assistance they need while away from home. The USJJA is proud to be the first organization in the U.S. to embrace the idea of a National Team, and will provide strong support for U.S. athletes competing at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi, as these athletes fight for the gold medals in each belt ranking.  Currently the United States ranks #2 among 115 countries according to UAEJJF WORLD RANKINGS.  (UAEJJF world rank by countries)

The United States Jiu-Jitsu Association (USJJA) is committed to organizing world-class Jiu-Jitsu tournaments with the purpose of fostering the growth and popularity of Jiu-Jitsu across the country.  The organization will have the added responsibility of selecting Jiu- Jitsu athletes to represent the U.S. in international competitions around the world.  The USJJA also aims to nurture new talent by providing Jiu-Jitsu scholarships for children of low-income families, allowing them to experience the physical, mental, and social benefits of Jiu-Jitsu, while encouraging them to reach their full potential in life through active participation in the sport.

The fulfillment of the organization’s Mission will provide viable career paths for Jiu- Jitsu athletes, while improving the lives of low-income children across the U.S., making significant and positive impacts within their communities.
