This one is for you, the competitor who wants a good option to attack the legs when the guard player is a tough nut to crack.
The lesson, taught by André Ushirobira alongside his student Felipe Braga, is meant to remind you of details so you don’t miss out on a finish on top.
With your opponent playing open guard, it’s important to let the collar grip go so you don’t lose torso mobility. Then the foot attack must completely spin on the axis, coming out on the other side with the foot already in the americana. If your opponent kicks and frees their foot, the second part of the attacks appears as an opportunity: the leg outside the initial move is left for the leg lock with lever on the knee.
