The beasts are already in the arena

Day one at the 2011 Worlds in Long Beach brought a number of stars to the edge of the competition area yesterday; teachers who, in a couple of days, will be the stars of the show.

Taking a spin around the pyramid-shaped gymnasium at CSU Long Beach, we ran into some famous faces smiling, shooting the breeze, barking instructions to their blue and white belts, and catching up with old Jiu-Jitsu friends.

There were black belts like Rubens Cobrinha, Roberto Cyborg, Rodolfo Vieira, Romulo Barral, Rodrigo Cavaca, Roberto “Tussa” Alencar, Marcio “Pé de Pano” Cruz, Caio Terra, Felipe Costa, Luiza Monteiro, Fabiana Borges, Michelle Nicolini and Rafael Freitas, to name but a few. Catch up with them below, before the war begins and the smiles disappear for a few hours…Day one of the 2011 Worlds in Long Beach brought a number of stars to the edge of the competition area yesterday; teachers who, in a couple of days, will be the stars of the show.
