Marcelo Cohen brown belt Shane Weinischke was probably just having a normal BJJ class at World Triumph Martial Arts in Tallahassee, Florida, when a “street fighter” called him up and asked to fight “the best guy.”
“A ‘Street fighter’ claiming a record of 20-0 (on the street) called World Triumph Martial Arts on Monday October 9th. He said he wanted to fight the best guy,” Shane told the Jiu-Jitsu Times. “He came into my school during the BJJ class and asked to box, I took my kimono off and just so happen to have 16 ounce gloves.”
As you can see from the video below, it didn’t exactly end well for the young man off the streets.
Yet even though Shane (in the white gloves) wanted to teach the 20-0 wannabe fighter some humility, he didn’t want to hurt him.
“I didn’t want to hurt the kid, just show that it takes discipline to train combat sports.”
Word to the wise, any of you future cage fighters: humility is a good thing. Embrace it!
