Sapateiro 6 is a $10,000 prize invitational submission-only tournament that may have the toughest bracket of any submission-only tournament we have seen to date.
Garry Tonon already challenged to de-crown his protege Gordon Ryan at this tournament, with the two fighters being bracketed to face each other for the first time.
Marcel Goncalves will also be at Sapateiro 6. Goncalves distinguished himself in the Metamoris tournaments and is also well known on the pro-circuit, having submitted Clark Gracie by armbar.
Hector Lombard, Judo Olympian, UFC fighter, and leglock terror will also be competing on the card.
Vagner Rocha, the UFC fighter, has a grudge against both Garry Tonon and Gordon Ryan, and will be looking to submit one or both of them.
DJ Jackson, who just defeated Garry Tonon in the Grappling Championship Pro, and now calls himself the “Danaher Death Squad Killer” will be looking to see if he can repeat his accomplishments over the Danaher competitors in the submission-only format.
Craig Jones is also looking to take the prize home.
This is one of the most high-powered brackets of any submission-only tournament to date.
The tournament will be January 21, 2017, in Tampa, Florida, and will also be livestreamed. (livestream info to be announced when available.)
