Sandbagging In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

In this video, “sandbagging” simply means “holding a people back in rank so they have a competitive edge.” Let’s say you have blue belt who rolls at a purple belt level. However, instead of giving her a purple belt so that she can compete in the purple belt division, you keep her at blue belt so she can compete against — and almost always easily defeat — her blue belt opponents.
