Longtime UFC welterweight fighter Rory MacDonald has signed a deal with Bellator MMA, which represents a number of other top fighters.
This past Tuesday evening, the UFC made a decision not to use the standard clause in the contract dedicated to matching. The UFC did not match Bellator’s offer, and MacDonald was removed from the official UFC ranks.
MacDonald is one of the top-ranked 170-pound fighters, and he has won several classic matches in the octagon. Though he incurred losses against the likes of Stephen Thompson and Robbie Lawler, he bounced back and has been one of the strongest contenders since 2010.
Bellator has no doubt won big by adding MacDonald to its ranks.
