Roger Gracie and Marcus Almeida “Buchecha” went toe-to-toe today in what could have been the biggest rematch in 2017 … if not in competitive Brazilian jiu-jitsu history.
For the first five minutes both fighters were fighting for the grips and takedowns and both got a penalty after four minutes for inaction. Buchecha was more active when it came to attempting takedowns, but Roger’s takedown defense was excellent.
After seven mins Roger Gracie pulled guard, went straight for a sweep, and relentlessly took Buchecha’s back, submitting him via cross collar choke.
This could go down as one of Roger Gracie’s biggest wins.
EDITOR’S NOTE: The original version of this article mistakenly said Roger won by RNC, then bow and arrow choke.
