Roger Gracie Inducted Into ADCC Hall of Fame

He’s an ADCC weight, absolute, and superfight champion. He’s a 10-time IBJJF world champion. He’s the man John Danaher considers to be the greatest jiu-jitsu player of all time. And now, Roger Gracie is a member of the ADCC Hall of Fame. The organization announced the news on Monday, and will announce additional new members each Monday.

ADCC Hall of Fame: Roger Gracie. Roger Gracie has officially been inducted into the ADCC Hall of Fame, he is the only person in ADCC history to have double golded with a 100% submission rate. He is the 2007 superfight champion as well.

Indeed, Gracie’s historic run through the 2005 ADCC championships may never be topped. Submitting every opponent he faced across two divisions, Gracie beat the likes of Ronaldo “Jacare” Sousa, Alexandre Ribeiro, and Fabrcio Werdum in that competition.

Gracie also found plenty of success competing in gi jiu-jitsu, as well as MMA. He won an IBJJF world championship at black belt for every year from 2004 to 2010, winning the absolute division in 2007, 2009, and 20010. And in MMA, Gracie earned a professional record of 8-2 and made it to the UFC.

Gracie has competed just twice since 2012, and most recently in 2017 when he defeated Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida by choke.
