With his simple, tight jiu-jitsu, Roger Gracie has won over legions of fans, and his style of adjustment and transitions is always a feast for the studious Graciemag reader. In today’s video, made for our friends over at the Dojjo channel, Roger teaches how to thwart a passer who’s advancing over the half-guard — and take the back to boot.
First, he shows in detail the mechanic of the work that must be done from the half-guard, with positioning and precise grips to be employed. With the passer applying pressure, Roger uses his opponent’s force to project his body outward, thus sliding to the back with greater ease.
