Gramado is already a full-fledged Jiu-Jitsu hub. At least that’s the idea you get when you mozie around town these days. The prefecture availed strategic points for banners and outdoor ads advertising the upcoming Abu Dhabi WPJJ tryouts. And the local population seems to be anxiously awaiting the event—at least that’s what a waiter at a local café downtown got across.
“You’re one of the Jiu-Jitsu folks? My son does judo; I’ll be there on Saturday,” he said. A moment later he was joking with his colleague, “Don’t mess up with that espresso; they know Minotauro…”
ABSOLUTE JIU-JITSU CHAMPION TO ACCOMPANY SISTER
According to Luciana Rangel, the event coordinator, there are over 1,200 signed up, which will have a positive impact on local business, since droves of family members will be accompanying the competitors to the bucolic town. And that’s just what already-WPJJ-qualified Rodolfo Vieira is doing: accompanying his sister to competion.
“I feel it will be a historic championship, for the high level of organization; it’s an event worthy of Gramado,” said Luciana.
This Friday we will have a true show of that at weigh-ins, which begin at 5pm at Rua Coberta, in the city center. GRACIEMAG.com will be there for a first-hand account of the action.
