Sincerely hope Max Rohskopf gets another chance in the UFC. First of all, he took the fight on 5 days’ notice. And 2nd, if he gets cut that sets a very dangerous precedent. You can then rest assured no one will ever say they’re done even if they should for their own health. Not even sure why this is a talking point right now. The short notice fighter was down 20-17 on all three scorecards. It was likely over. He said he was done. It happens. The bigger story is why corners refuse to stop fights early. Rarely happens in MMA, yet so common in boxing. And yes, I know I’ve never fought. But all I’m doing is listening to the fighter who repeatedly said he was done. That should be enough. There should be no shame or embarrassment with saying I’m done. In fact, I applaud Max for having to the courage to do so in a sport that frowns upon that. Live to fight another day, not fight till the death. Also, no clue why people are bringing up Anthony Smith. I sure didn’t. I know this is different. Smith didn’t want out (even though I thought his corner should have stopped it regardless). Rohskopf did. End of story.
