Back in July, Rorion Gracie promoted his brother Rickson to red belt at a seminar in Las Vegas. But although he achieved the legendary rank of grandmaster in the martial art he’s spent his life practicing, Rickson seemed a bit hesitant to accept the belt, and he’s continued wearing his coral belt despite having been promoted. Many people have wondered why, and at the Q & A portion of his seminar at the Rickson Gracie Cup, he finally gave them an answer.
Rickson began by explaining that he was initially reluctant to receive his brother’s promotion, but eventually accepted it out of respect. In this video, he explains why he’s gone back to using his old belt, and anyone who’s obsessed with getting that next promotion should listen closely to what he has to say.
