Remember the year Cobrinha made it to the Pan’s open class podium

As the longest running Jiu-Jitsu event, the Pan Jiu-Jitsu championship has one of the richest stories of all competitions.

One of the most interesting chapters took place in 2009, when featherweight Rubens Charles Cobrinha decided to try his luck in the open class division.

In a year he also won the the featherweight division with victories over Rafael Mendes and Mario Reis, he went on to face the big guys.

Cobrinha started out finishing Abmar Barbosa ad then had to face Rafael Lovato Jr. in the quarterfinals.
