Recovering Hominick watches fight for first time and comments

On Saturday, Canada’s Mark Hominick stepped down out of the Octagon after five rounds with José Aldo with his good cheer intact.

His face swollen and littered with wounds, the owner of one of the most gruesomely huge hematomas in UFC history didn’t falter. He headed straight to the hospital, where special attention was paid to his left eye, as the bleeding from it during the fight had Dana White and the other UFC guys concerned. Before hitting the sack Hominick grabbed his cell phone and asked Aldo via Twitter if he was up for a sixth round.

Aside from some swelling, according to Mark all is now good. For the time being the fighter is resting, letting the swelling subside, and he only returned to hospital to accompany his wife, who is nine months pregnant. All is well with her too. Yesterday, the challenger got the chance to rewatch the Saturday fight he lost by decision.

“Watched the fight for the first time. The knockdown in the 3rd really took the momentum building. Congrats to the Champ @josealdojunior @ufc,” @MarkHominick tweeted, among dozens of thank you tweets to fans who sent touching messages about the UFC 129 fight of the night. “I’m dying to get back to training, get stronger and get back to winning,” added Mark, who before returning to training should undergo a tomography to be sure everything is in order.
