Ralek Gracie and Metamoris have been under fire for some months now. For people who are not familiar with the details of this story, Metamoris is a BJJ Promotion Company and its founder is the famous Ralek Gracie. Ralek is a mixed martial artist as well as a practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His professional MMA record is 3-0. However, he has not fought since 2010 when he won Kazushi Sakuraba in a unanimous decision.
The problem of Metamoris is simply an inability to meet certain obligations. The company owes a number of fighters and owes some its staff. The main reason for this state of affairs is that one of the company’s major investors pulled out of the firm. In addition, Ralek Gracie admitted that he made some business mistakes in the past.
The good news is that Gracie is not living in denial. He has admitted that his company owes money but he has also promised that he will pay all the debts that Metamoris owes. Part of the action plan is to start fighting again. This is an honorable move and it is a step in the right direction.
